Hilltopper Football Completes Second Two-A-Day of Fall Camp
Aug. 13, 2014
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - With the graduation of two starters and the loss of another to the NFL Draft, secondary coach Mike Cassity might have cause to be alarmed at his group heading into the 2014 season. But, following Thursday's second two-a-day of the fall, the veteran collegiate coach was anything but.
"(During fall camp), we have to make sure we get back to where we were at the end of last season, at the end of spring football in our alignments and assignments," Cassity said. "They've made progress. There are a lot of new faces, but there are also some familiar faces. We have guys that have had playing time."
Speaking of the age of his defensive backfield, comprised heavily of juniors and seniors, Cassity added, "we have guys who have been in the system now for two years. There is nothing new or nothing surprising to them, but we have added a few wrinkles. We set a very high standard defensively."
The Hilltoppers worked out for an intense two hours in the morning on Thursday, testing their physical limits, before testing their mental capacity and strength of mind in the evening session. WKU will return to the practice field on Thursday morning, hitting the field at 11 a.m. All practices through Friday are open to the public.
