BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Hilltopper Football returned to the gridiron for an evening practice under the lights on Tuesday as it continues to inch closer to kickoff versus Bowling Green on Aug. 29 at Houchens-Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium.
WKU put in two hours of work and picked up the amount of team action, with the offense and defense trading momentum throughout. Following Tuesday's practice in pleasant summer conditions, running backs coach Greg Nord spoke with the local media. Sophomore wide receiver Taywan Taylor chatted separately with WKUSports.com.
While junior Leon Allen will be WKU's primary back in 2014, Nord is pleased with the depth that is emerging behind his feature back.
"The good thing is there is depth - enough to compete," said Nord. "Whenever you have competition you're going to make sure you get better."
The Hilltoppers will suit up in full pads for the first time at 4:30 Wednesday afternoon. All WKU practices through Aug. 15 are open to the public.
