Franks saw action in ten games this season and has recorded 22 tackles as a linebacker.Earning his first start of the season against Morgan State Franks had four tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss in the game. He also has four tackles for loss on the season.
Franks played in all 13 games during his junior campaign, recording four tackles on the season. He notched a tackle at top-ranked Alabama on Sept. 8. Franks tallied two tackles in win at Kentucky on Sept. 15, his first multi-tackle performance since 2009.
Franks saw action in each of the final 11 games of the season after not playing in the season opener against Kentucky on Sept. 1.
Franks received a medical redshirt after suffering a season-ending injury during fall camp.
Franks saw action in all 12 games as a true freshman, starting in each of the final two games of the season. He totaled 18 tackles with eight tackles being solo. He recorded one tackle for a loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery on the season. Franks had three tackles and one tackle for a three-yard loss in week five against FIU on Oct. 10. He posted a pair of tackles in week nine against Troy on Nov. 7 in a home contest. He recorded seven tackles, good for second on the team, in week 10 against ULM on Nov. 14. Franks earned a starting spot the following two weeks of the season against Florida Atlantic on Nov. 28 and Arkansas State on Dec. 3. He forced a fumble and recovered a fumble against Arkansas State to go along with two solo tackles.
Franks was named the Birmingham News Super Senior in 2008 and the ASWA First-Team All-State Team. He led Fayette County High School in Alabama to a 9-3 overall record in 2008. He was named to the Preseason Super 11 and the Preseason Alabama Top 50 list in 2008. He posted 29 receptions for 373 yards and five touchdowns in his senior season. On defense, he had 62 total tackles, including 51 solo tackles and four sacks.
