The Athletic Training Department at Western Kentucky University is comprised of an experienced and dedicated staff of NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainers (ATCs), student athletic training aides, a physical therapist, and an IV/Registered Nurse. Under the direction of team physicians and in conjunction with the Director of Athletic Training and Sports Medicine, the athletic training staff's primary responsibility is to serve the medical needs of all WKU student-athletes. Together, we strive to deliver quality health care to every athlete that we encounter.
The Athletic Training Department at Western Kentucky University believes that injury prevention is the most crucial aspect in providing quality healthcare, and endeavors to minimize the risk of injury as much as possible. When injuries do occur, student-athletes are evaluated and referred to the appropriate medical professional in a prompt and efficient manner. We believe that all of our student-athletes deserve to be treated as a person first and foremost, and will treat them with the same respect and care that we would expect for ourselves and our families. We are loyal to our student-athletes, our staff, our coaches, our department of athletics, and our university.
Our staff is committed to providing the highest standard of care as outlined by the NCAA, the National Athletic Trainer's Association, and the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure. Working within our scope of practice as certified athletic trainers, we serve in the core areas of prevention, evaluation, management, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses occurring to our student-athletes.
