Big Red Radio Network To Pull Double Duty On Friday

Dec. 19, 2002

Bowling Green, Ky. - With the Western Kentucky University football team playing in the Division I-AA Championship game in Chattanooga, Tenn., and the men's basketball team hosting St. Francis (Pa.), the Big Red Radio Network will be busy carrying both Hilltopper contests.

The championship game between the Toppers and McNeese State will air on the Big Red Radio Network and flagship station WPTQ-FM 103.7 with the pregame show beginning at 4:30 p.m. (CST) and the kickoff set for 5:30 p.m. The basketball game can be heard live on the New Star 100.7 WKLX-FM in Bowling Green with the tipoff slated for 8:30 p.m. Following the football game, the rest of the Big Red Radio Network will join the men's basketball game in progress.

For those outside the reach of the Big Red Radio Network, the game broadcasts can be heard over the internet at www.wkusports.com. Also, Westwood One Radio will carry the game nationally on over 300 radio stations. Check your local listings.

"Had we not designated a different flagship station for each program, men's basketball would be penalized Friday night when Hilltopper football plays for the national title," said Mike Legg, WKU's Director of Broadcasting and Sales and "The Voice of the Hilltoppers." "With our current arrangement, Western basketball fans within earshot of WKLX can hear coverage of the Toppers and St. Francis (PA) from pre-game to post-game."
