Chris Glowacki, a 2001 graduate of Western Kentucky University, has been named Assistant Sports Information Director at his alma mater, filling the vacancy created when former assistant Chris Masters resigned last month to accept a similar position at Notre Dame.
Glowacki will assist in the promotion of all 20 Hilltopper sports, focusing on Lady Topper basketball and volleyball, while assisting with the development of departmental publications.
"We're very pleased that Chris has joined our staff on a full-time basis," said WKU Sports Information Director Paul Just. "He has been a valuable member of our operation as a student assistant and as an intern for four years. When the opening came up on our staff recently, there was no doubt in any of our minds about who was the best person for the job!"
Glowacki has been a member of the WKU sports information staff since coming to the Hill as a freshman in the fall of 1997.
Working for three and a half years as a student assistant, he handled coverage of the WKU men's and women's golf teams, as well as assisting with other Hilltopper sports. Then, in January, 2001, he was asked to step in and fill the vacant staff intern position. In that role, he traveled with the Hilltopper baseball team while also preparing for men's soccer and the new Lady Topper soccer program, which began play this fall.
A native of Connersville, Ind., Glowacki graduated from Connersville High School in 1997 before attending Western Kentucky, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications last May.
