Meet the Teams A Success; HAF Kicks Off Add One Campaign

Oct. 12, 2001

Bowling Green, Ky. - The Hilltopper Athletic Foundation held it's first annual "Meet the Teams" event last Monday night at E.A. Diddle Arena, as 350 HAF members turned out to support the Toppers and Lady Toppers as they gear up for basketball season.

Head coaches Dennis Felton and Shawn Campbell introduced those in attendance to their 2001-2002 squads, and Athletics Director Dr. Wood Selig gave everyone an update on the Diddle Arena renovation project.

The HAF also officially kicked-off it's "Add One" campaign. Each HAF member is being encouraged to recruit at least one new individual to join the HAF. In doing so, HAF members are eligible for valuable rewards.

For each new member who joins the organization, the HAF member who referred that particular individual will receive a $10 gift certificate to the WKU bookstore. The referring party will also be entered into two grand prize drawings -- one for a 4-day, 3-night Caribbean cruise (courtesy of Let's Travel), and one for an all-expenses paid trip for two to the 2002 Sun Belt Conference men's & women's basketball tournaments in New Orleans.

"If we can get all current HAF members to participate in this program, we would more than double our peak membership number of over 1,500 members in 1993-94," said Tom Keith, HAF Assistant Director. "Participation in this program will greatly enhance scholarship funding for all WKU student-athletes, as well as increase the footprint of support for Hilltopper athletics -- not only in Southcentral Kentucky, but throughout the Commonwealth, as well.

"By becoming a member of the HAF, you receive season ticket purchase priority for men's basketball, Lady Topper basketball, and Hilltopper football. Season ticket holders will also have the primary option of renewing their seats next year for the 2002-2003 men's basketball season, when a completely renovated Diddle Arena welcomes Louisville, Mississippi State and Southern Mississippi to Bowling Green. Diddle Arena will also serve as the official host of the 2003 (and 2004) Sun Belt Conference men's and women's basketball tournaments. Needless to say, it has never been a more exciting time to be a Hilltopper!"
