BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - In light of the recent terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington D.C., Western Kentucky University's football game at Wisconsin scheduled to be played Saturday in Madison has been postponed, Director of Athletics Dr. Wood Selig announced Thursday.
The two schools are exploring options to make up the game later this season.
Other Western teams will continue to participate in events as scheduled. The women's soccer team plays at Oral Roberts in Tulsa, Okla., at 7 p.m. (CDT) tonight, and finishes its two-match road trip at Missouri Southern Sunday at noon. The men's soccer team is taking part in a tournament at Vanderbilt, with matches Friday at 6 p.m. against St. Bonaventure and 2 p.m. Sunday with Vermont.
The men's and women's golf teams also are in action, with the men playing in the Northern Intercollegiate at Iowa City, Iowa, and the women participating in the Elon Invitational in Elon College, N.C. - both tournaments will take place on Saturday and Sunday.
The Hilltopper cross country teams will host the annual Old Timer's Classic, beginning at 10 a.m. at Kereiakes Park.
WKU's volleyball team is the only other squad scheduled to miss matches - the Wildcat Classic, hosted by Northwestern in Chicago, was to be played Friday and Saturday.
