The 2007 W-Club Homecoming Brunch
2007 Homecoming Brunch Former W-Club presidents Pam Herriford ('05-06) and Dr. Dero Downing ('53-54) visit at the annual W-Club Brunch. Herriford (Trn '73-75, WTen, WTrk) is WKU Associate Athletics Director and is a member of the W-Club Board of Directors. Dr. Downing (MB '41-43, MTen '41-43), WKU president from 1969-1979, continues to serve The University as chairman of the board of The College Heights Foundation.
New Honorary W-Club Members Alex Downing (left), president of The College Heights Foundation and a long-time active supporter of Hilltopper athletics and the W-Club accepts his honorary membership in the W-Club from club President Doug Gorman at the '07 Homecoming Brunch. Also selected for honorary membership, but unable to attend, was former Lady Topper Head Basketball Coach (1982-97) and Hilltopper assistant (2003-07) Paul Sanderford.
Just Award Winner Long-time WKU alumni director Lee Robertson (left) accepts the 2007 Paul J. Just Award for outstanding contributions to Hilltopper athletics and the W-Club from Coach Jimmy Feix at The Homecoming Brunch. Both Robertson (BB '48-50) and Feix (FB '49-52) have devoted the bulk of their adult lives to their alma mater and remain active ambassadors of WKU in their retirement.
The 2007 Alumni W-Club Homecoming Brunch A record Homecoming Brunch crowd of more than 300 attended the 2007 event on the playing floor of E.A. Diddle Arena, Nov. 10.
2006-07 W-Club President Recognized Doug Gorman (left; MSoc '82-85) accepts a plaque in recognition of his service as president of the Alumni W-Club for the 2006-07 year. Making the presentation is former W-Club president ('64-65 & '73-74) and long-time ('76-96) club secretary-treasurer Butch Gilbert (FB '48-51; and FB assistant coach '69-84, '89-90).
The 2007 Class of The WKU Athletic Hall of Fame Seven great Topper athletes were inducted into the WKU Athletic Hall of Fame in ceremonies at the annual W-Club Homcoming Brunch Nov. 10. They were (left-right): Bob Daniels (MB '54-57, BB '54-57); Norman Head (MG '47-49; MG Coach '86-90), who is deceased and was represented by his daughters Karen Cottingham and Katy Walkup; Mecit Koydemir (MSoc '85-86); Tandreia Green (WB '87-90); Clarence Glover (MB '69-71); Mike McCoy (FB '70-73, MTrk '71-73); and Brett McNeal (MB '86-89).
Coach Feix Inducted into FCA Hall of Champions WKU's Jimmy Feix (FB '49-52; FB assistant coach '57-67; FB head coach '68-83) was inducted as the 56th member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Hall of Champions in ceremonies at FCA headquarters in Kansas City, Jan. 15. Members of the WKU contingent accompanying Coach Feix and his wife, Frankie, to the event were (left-right): Barren River Area FCA Director Bryan Veatch (a former WKU football athlete), '07-08 W-Club President Jerry Humble (FB '65-68), Denny Wedge (FB '56-59), Frankie Feix, Coach Feix, Lance Alm (FB '85, '87), Butch Gilbert (FB '49-51, Assistant FB coach '69-84, '89-90), and Barren River Area FCA board member and Associate Director of the Hilltopper Athletic Foundation Darian Westerfield. The group is posing with the plaque for Coach Feix that will hang in his honor in the FCA Hall of Champions.
50s Football Bunch Annual Summer Reunion on Cumberland River The 50s Football Bunch held its annual reunion at River Breeze Cabin on Cumberland River near Tompkinsville in August. The attendees included - first row (left-right): Joe Cunningham, Jerry Wilder, David Miller, Frank Payne, Jim Tittle, Kenny Barrett, Mickey Walker, Bob Bradford, Yogi Meadors; second row: Delane Simpson, Jack Theuerkauf, Jim Hughes, Lloyd Weaver, Ron Dowdell, Lou Johnson, Norval Baird, Mickey Riggs, Butch Gilbert; third row: Denny Wedge, Bobby Westmoreland, Howard Wren, Lee Murray, Jim Taylor, Winton Boone, Jim Richards, and Gerald Poynter.

2005-06 W-Club President Pam Moody Herriford presents Ray Rose a plaque in honor of his election as an Honorary Member of the W-Club. Other new Honorary Members in 06 were University Registrar Freida Eggleton and Team Doctor Dr. John Burch. Rose coached three sports during his career on The Hill gymnastics, women’s tennis and men’s tennis.

TOPPER TEAMMATES GATHER FOR GOLF
These six Hilltopper footballers from the late 1960s gathered in Orlando, Fla., in March to test their golf game against their former teammates. They are (left-right): Jerry Humble ('65-68), Tom Ruby ('65-66), Ed King ('66-68), Alan Powers ('66), W.C. Helton ('66-69) and Jim Sprinkle ('65-68).
CURRENT HILLTOPPER BASKETBALL PLAYERS SPORT THEIR NEW LETTER JACKETS
Current Topper basketball athletes (left-right) Orlando Mendez-Valdez, Tyrone Brazelton and Mike Walker model the letter jackets they received from the W-Club at the Men's Basketball Awards Banquet April 10 on the main floor of E.A. Diddle Arena. And, the team's lone senior, Butch Joiner, was presented his complimentary W-Club membership for the '07-08 year. The W-Club funds letter awards (each qualifying athlete's choice of a letter jacket or a letter blanket) for all current athletes who have either earned their second varsity letter or (in the case of transfers with less than three years remaining) after earning their first varsity letter.
50s Football Group from July 06
Hilltopper football athletes from the 1950s held their annual reunion at a rustic cabin on the banks of the Cumberland River near Tompkinsville last July. Among those who attended were (kneeling, left-right): Norval Baird ('56-57), Yogi Meadors ('57-59), David Miller ('57-59), Kenny Barrett ('54-57), Jim (Y.A.) Tittle; and (standing): Mickey Walker ('58), Bobby Westmoreland ('61-63), Ray Weaver ('50, '55-57), Jimmy Feix ('49-52), Jack Theuerkauf ('52, '57-59), Frank Payne ('57-60), Joe Cunningham ('54-57) and Lloyd Weaver ('57-59). Yogi Meadors has spearheaded the planning and organization of the event for the past several years.
