Bill Edwards, MA ATC

Bill “Doc E” Edwards continues to enjoy a lengthy career at the helm of the WKU Athletic Training Program. A veteran of both the Ohio Valley and Sun Belt Conferences, Edwards was named Head Athletic Trainer at Western Kentucky University in August of 1983 after having served as an assistant Athleitc Trainer for six years prior. Edwards is also a two time graduate of WKU, earning a bachelor’s degree in 1974 in Physical Education and a master’s degree in Exercise Science in 1976.

In his role as Director of Athletic Training, Edwards coordinates a large group of Sports Medicine specialists that have been attracted to WKU not only by him and his staff, but by the outstanding reputation that its athletic programs enjoy as well. Edwards utilizes these health care professionals to ensure appropriate, quick, and state-of-the-art athletic health care for WKU athletes. In addition to his daily Athletic Training duties, Edwards also serves as an instructor in the Department of Kinesiology, Recreation and Sport at WKU.

“Doc E” resides in Bowling Green with his wife Jennie and their two daughters, Faith and Rachel.

 


 


Mike Gaddie, MS ATC

Mike Gaddie joined the WKU Athletic Training Staff in August 2000. Gaddie graduated from Murray State University in Murray, KY in May 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation, and would go on to earn a master’s degree in Exercise Science from WKU in 2006.

Gaddie has worked in many different settings as an athletic trainer, including high school, college, professional and clinical settings. At WKU, Gaddie’s primary responsibilities include providing medical coverage for the Men’s Basketball team, co-supervising the graduate assistant athletic training staff and coordinating care for WKU Golf and Swimming/Diving.

Mike resides in Bowling Green with his wife Connie and their two sons, Andrew and Jacob.



Dustin Wilson, MS ATC CSCS

Dustin Wilson joined the WKU Athletic Training staff in August 2006. Prior to his career on “the Hill”, Wilson served as the head certified Athletic Trainer at Union (KY) College from 2004-06, and as an assistant from 2002-04. Wilson graduated in May of 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Eureka (IL) College, and went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology and Recreation with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics from Illinois State University in May of 2002. In addition to his certification as an Athletic Trainer, Wilson also earned the credential of Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association in 2002.

At WKU, Wilson’s primary responsibilities include providing medical coverage for the Baseball team while coordinating record keeping and technology for the athletic training department.

A native of Arrowsmith, IL., Dustin currently resides in Glasgow with his wife Chasity, and their daughters Riley and Raegan.


Danny Cobble, MS ATC

Danny Cobble joined the WKU Athletic Training staff in July of 2009 after having served as the Assistant Athletic Trainer for football at the University of South Carolina.  A native of Louisville, Ky., Cobble completed his undergraduate degree in exercise science at the University of Kentucky, where he worked in the high school outreach program and served as an athletic trainer at Bryan Station High School. He received his master's degree from the University of South Carolina, gaining experience working with the Gamecock football and men's tennis teams before spending his second year as the athletic trainer at Columbia High School.

Cobble currently serves as the Head Football Athletic Trainer for the WKU football team. He resides in Bowling Green with his daughter Malanni and son Danny, Jr.


Katie Murphy, MA ATC

Katie Murphy joined the WKU Athletic Training staff in July of 2009 after serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer and earning a Master of Arts degree in Sports Management from the University of Alabama.  She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Athletic Training from Murray State University in December of 2006.

At WKU, Murphy's primary responsibilities include providing daily medical coverage for the Women's Basketball team and co-supervising the graduate assistant athletic training staff, coordinating care for WKU Volleyball and Tennis teams.

Katie resides in Bowling Green, and is a native of Hawesville, KY.

Justin Budd joined the WKU athletic training staff in August of 2009 after completing his master's degree from University of Nebraska at Omaha in May of the same year. While pursuing his master's degree at UNO for a career in athletic training, Budd completed his clinical rotations with their Football and Softball teams as well as time with Creighton University's Men's Basketball team. Budd also completed an internship with the Colorado Crush of the Arena Football League and currently provides daily medical coverage for the WKU Football team. 

A native of Grand Island, Neb., Justin currently resides in Bowling Green.

Niki Koch joined the WKU athletic training staff full time in August of 2012 after serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer with the WKU Volleyball team for two years prior while earning a Master of Science degree in Exercise Science.  Prior to her time on “the hill”, Koch earned a Bachelor’s of Education in Science, majoring in Athletic Training and Clinic Management from Bowling Green State University, having completed clinical rotations with the BGSU Football, Baseball, and Hockey teams. Currently, Koch serves as the staff athletic trainer for the WKU Women’s Soccer and Softball teams.



Lauren M. Roe

Lauren Roe joined the WKU athletic training staff after receiving her Bachelor's of Science from the University of Toledo. During her time at Toledo she covered a variety of clinical rotations, finding her niche while working with the swimming and diving teams. Lauren also worked for two summers with the University of Notre Dame athletic training staff as a summer intern.  In addition to her duties with the WKU swimming & diving teams, Lauren will be pursuing a Master’s degree in exercise science.

Paul Krampe joins the WKU athletic training staff after receiving a Bachelor’s of Science from Eastern Kentucky University in Athletic Training. During his time at Eastern Kentucky he had clinical rotations at both the High School and Collegiate level, including rotations with the Colonels football, soccer and softball teams. Paul will be providing coverage for WKU’s track & field and cross country teams.

Danielle Vaughan joins the WKU Athletic Training staff after completing a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Evansville in Athletic Training. Danielle covered a wide variety of clinical rotations including college and high school with her senior sport being baseball. Her primary coverage at WKU will be with Women’s Soccer and Softball during their respective off-seasons.  While working at WKU, Danielle will also be pursuing a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology.

 


 


Jasmine Hilson, ATC

Jasmine Hilson joined the WKU Athletic training staff as a graduate assistant athletic trainer in the summer of 2012 after having earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Troy University in May of the same year.  As part of her undergraduate education, she completed a variety of collegiate, high school, and clinical rotations including a rotation with Champion Sports Medicine at St. Vincent’s in Birmingham, AL.  During her tenure at WKU, Jasmine will be providing daily athletic training coverage for the WKU volleyball team while pursuing a Master of Science degree in Sports Administraion.
