Aug. 20, 2002

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Western Kentucky University football and men's basketball teams will have a new home on the radio this season, with the Big Red Radio Network announcing Tuesday that Hilltopper games can now be heard on WPTQ-FM (103.7 The Point) in Bowling Green.

"We are excited about moving football and men's basketball to WPTQ-FM" said Derron Steenbergen, executive producer of the network. "WKLX has served very well as the previous flagship, but 103.7 The Point is a much better demographic fit for Western sports.

"The two hottest sports franchises in Southern Kentucky are the Toppers and the Tennessee Titans. We feel the two together will be a powerful marketing tool. It will be the Toppers on Saturday and the Titans on Sunday. It is going to be an exciting year on the Hill and we are very eager to get started!"

WKU can be heard on 13 stations throughout the state, making it the second-largest network in Kentucky. The Big Red Radio Network includes affiliates in: Bardstown (WBRT-AM 1320), Campbellsville (WTCO-AM 1450), Central City (WKYA-FM 105.5), Elizabethtown (WIEL-AM 1400), Elkton (WEKT-AM 1070), Eminence/Shelbyville (WKXF-AM 1600), Glasgow (WCDS-AM 1440), Henderson (WSON-AM 860), Leitchfield (WKHG-FM 104.9), Madisonville (WTTL-AM 1310), Owensboro (WLME-FM 102.9), Princeton (WPKY-AM 1580) and Somerset (WSFC-AM 1240).
