Once a student-athlete has completed one academic year at WKU, or utilized a season of eligibility in a sport, he/she must meet NCAA requirements for progress toward a degree. These requirements are:
- Student-athletes must be enrolled in a full-time load (minimum of 12 credit hours) per semester in order to practice, compete, and receive athletic aid. Student-athletes who drop below 12 credit hours at any point during the semester will become immediately ineligible.
- Seniors who are enrolled in their final semester and need fewer than 12 credit hours to complete their baccalaureate degree, as verified by the University Registrar, may compete while enrolled in fewer than 12 credit hours, provided they are enrolled in the courses necessary to complete their degree requirements.
- Full-time graduate students may compete while enrolled in 9 credit hours (full-time graduate status as defined by WKU).
NOTE: EFFECTIVE FALL 2011, FOOTBALL STUDENT-ATHLETES MUST PASS, AT LEAST, 9 HOURS EACH FALL SEMESTER TO AVOID GAME SUSPENSIONS THE SUBSEQUENT SEASON. PLEASE SEE YOUR ATHLETIC ACADEMIC ADVISOR FOR FURTHER DETAILS REGARDING THIS NEW NCAA RULE.
