BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The WKU Topperettes Dance Team received a Silver Paid Bid to attend the Collegiate National Dance Alliance Championship next April in Daytona, Florida. The Topperettes attended the National Dance Alliance (NDA) dance camp on July 31st through August 2nd at the University of Louisville where they were awarded this bid.
The Dance Team also received a spirit stick for their team work, positive attitudes, and enthusiasm. The Team also received a superior ribbon and bronze plaque for their "Game Day" performance.
Seniors Laura Hedges and Megan Ries and Freshmen Jameelah Baker were nominated by the NDA staff to audition for All-American. Junior Brettne Vasek was also invited to audition, but due to illness was unable to perform. To audition for All-American, girls must show superior athletic skills in the area of dance and represent the image presented by NDA. While all three gave great performances, Jameelah's performance earned her an All-American title and was awarded a medal at the ending ceremony.
The Topperettes are excited to be back at NDA and have competed at the Collegiate National Championship winning in 2005 Open Division, 3rd place in 2006 Open Division, 11th in 2007 Division I , and 6th in 2008 Open Division.
