BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - WKU led the Sun Belt Conference in number of student-athletes honored academically on the Academic Honor Roll or Commissioner's List in 2012-13, marking the ninth-straight year WKU has had the most honorees in the conference.
A total of 215 WKU student-athletes were named to the Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll or the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's List in 2012-13. Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll recognition is given to student-athletes who earn a grade point average (GPA) between 3.0 and 3.49 for the academic year, and the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's List is reserved for those who earn a GPA between 3.5 and 4.0 for the academic year.
WKU has now seen 1,765 student-athletes honored by the conference in the nine-year period from 2004-05 through 2012-13.
Following the 2012-13 academic year, the average cumulative grade point average of all 379 WKU student-athletes is 3.05, and 200 students, 53 percent, are maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or better. Eleven of 15 sport programs, 73 percent, have a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or better, and four are at or above 3.4 as a team. At least one student-athlete from each sport program earned a perfect 4.0 GPA in the spring 2013 semester for a total of 47 student-athletes, and a total of 108 student-athletes graduated in the past calendar year with an average cumulative GPA of 3.27.
