BOWLING GREEN, Ky. --The Hilltopper Athletic Foundation (HAF) is holding a membership drive from July 16-August 15, and HAF staff, board members and volunteers will be recruiting new members much like WKU coaches recruit student-athletes.
The month-long membership drive is aimed to help make WKU's move to Conference USA impactful. The HAF raises approximately $1.3 million annually for scholarships and the university's annual scholarship cost for 367 student-athletes is approximately $7 million, displaying the importance for sustainable growth through private support with memberships with the HAF.
"We have experienced tremendous growth with our HAF membership levels in recent years, and the time is now to capitalize on all of the momentum we have with our entry into Conference USA," WKU Associate Athletic Director and HAF Executive Director Kyle Chapman said. "Our student-athletes enjoy a first-class experience at WKU, and we can continue to make a positive impact for them by increasing our membership base."
The HAF will hold a new member celebration during the 2014 football season home-opener versus defending Mid-American Conference champion Bowling Green State in the new Field Level Hospitality Zone on August 29. New members will be invited as guests of the HAF and will receive their personalized Power of One Red Towel at the game. If you are not already an HAF member, you can join for as little as $50 by going online or calling 270-745-5321.
If you are already a member of the HAF, you can still make an impact. HAF members who bring new fans on board to contribute to WKU Athletics by joining the foundation are rewarded for their efforts. Since 1965, the HAF has served as the financial lifeblood for WKU Athletics by helping to fund the overall student-athlete experience. The purposes of the foundation are to provide the necessary scholarships and other financial assistance to allow as many student-athletes as possible the opportunity for an athletic and academic experience at WKU, and to further support WKU Athletics through private support and visibility.
