HAF Announces 2007 “Spread The Red” Membership Drive

Bowling Green, Ky. — The Western Kentucky University Hilltopper Athletic Foundation announced Tuesday that the 2007 “Spread the Red” membership drive is underway.

The membership drive began July 10 with a training session where volunteers were teamed together and received vital information on how to solicit new HAF members and season ticket holders.

The membership drive, composed of five teams of six volunteers, seeks to enroll new HAF members, football season ticket holders, and 110% Club members. One of the opportunities that is being offered new members is the chance to purchase reserved season football tickets at L.T. Smith Stadium by joining the HAF with a $50 donation, and by purchasing season tickets for only $25 each. “Spread The Red” will continue through Aug. 9. Prizes will be awarded to teams and individuals who bring in the most money and new members.

July 26 will mark the campaign’s “Half-Time Session,” where each team is invited to Diddle Arena for a dessert social and to bring in all the contributions that have been collected from new members. Teams will be able to meet their competition and see updated standings

The HAF will conclude the membership drive with a “Victory Party” Aug. 9, when the teams turn in their final list of new memberships and donations. The evening will end with awards being given to teams and individuals who raised the most money and brought in the most new members.

“We are excited about the transition of the WKU football program into the Sun Belt Conference and NCAA Division I-A football,” said Darian Westerfield, Associate Director of the HAF. “We consider this a critical period in the history of WKU Athletics.”

The HAF’s mission is to provide the necessary funding to allow as many student-athletes as possible the opportunity for an athletic and academic experience at WKU, and to further support WKU Athletics through private philanthropy and visibility.
