Bowling Green, Ky. - Darrell Horn, a veteran of nearly three decades of financial administration experience, has been named Director of Athletic Business Affairs at Western Kentucky University.
Horn will assume management duties of the Hilltopper athletic department budget effective Monday, July 10.
"Financial integrity and accountability are paramount to running a first class business operation. Western is extremely fortunate to be able to attract someone with the financial background and the accounting experience that Darrell brings to Hilltopper athletics," WKU Athletics Director Dr. Wood Selig said. "He will bring a business perspective honed through more than 25 years in the corporate sector. Western will truly benefit from Darrell's business acumen."
Horn, a native of Eldorado, Ill., and a 1968 graduate of Russell County (Ky.) High School, spent 22 years (1975-97) in financial administration at Fruit of the Loom, Inc.'s worldwide headquarters in Bowling Green. His last 12 years there he was responsible for budget development, analysis and forecasting. He then served as accounts receivable manager at U.S. Colors, Inc., in Scottsville, Ky., prior to joining the staff at Logan Aluminum in February, 1999, as finance processor.

A 1972 WKU alumnus with a degree in accounting, Horn is married to the former Ineta Phelps of Russell Springs (a '73 WKU graduate who is a 1969 product of Russell County High, a teacher at Warren Elementary School in Bowling Green and an adjunct professor at Western). They have two daughters, Marla (Mrs. Todd) Carter (both WKU alumni) and Whitney, a sophomore on the Hill. The Horn's also have a one-year-old grandson (William Ryce Carter).
