Thomas Harris Hired as Assistant Director of Athletic Marketing

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Thomas Harris, who has been associated with WKU Athletics for the past five years, has been hired as Assistant Director of Athletic Marketing, the university announced Monday.

Harris will be charged with developing marketing and promotional plans for soccer, volleyball and softball while also focusing on new strategies to increase attendance and revenue. Harris will play a key role in revamping the official student group of WKU Athletics and creating new ways to engage WKU students and increase student attendance at all athletics events.

Harris will also oversee the Big Red’s Rascals Kids Club and assist with men’s basketball, women’s basketball and football gameday marketing duties. Harris will also be part of the team that is responsible for maintaining content on all social media sites for WKU Athletics.

Thomas is the epitome of what working in college athletics is all about. His hard work and awesome work ethic as a student worker and intern has paid off.  He brings a huge amount of experience, creativity and passion for college athletics to our athletic department. He will play a key role in elevating our marketing department’s efforts to engage our student body and fan base this upcoming year. Thomas is an impressive young man with a very bright future in college athletics.”

Harris spent the previous five years as a student worker and intern in the WKU Athletic Marketing Department.  Harris received his bachelor’s degree from WKU in May 2011 and master’s degree from WKU in December 2012.

In his past role as the marketing intern, Harris increased Big Red’s Rascals Kids Club membership by 38 percent and played a key role in increasing followers on WKU’s social media outlets. Harris is an active member of NACMA, the Bowling Green Professional Marketing Association and was the recipient of the President’s Award for Diversity Enhancement in August 2012.

Harris is a native of Louisville, Ky.
