Three WKU Student-Athletes Named Scholars of the College at Spring Commencement

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Three WKU student-athletes were named Scholars of the College at WKU's spring 2013 commencement ceremonies, meaning the trio was among the mere 40 students at the university who graduated with the highest grade point averages in their respective colleges.

Brett Austin of the track and field and cross country program, Katie DiTommaso of the women's tennis program and Ali Stahlke of the women's soccer program earned the honor, as all three graduated with perfect 4.0 GPAs.

Austin, a biology and chemistry major from Bowling Green, and DiTommaso, a chemistry major from Fort Wright, were named Scholars of the Ogden College of Science and Engineering, and Stahlke, an elementary education major from Naperville, Ill., was named a Scholar of the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences.

A total of 74 WKU student-athletes graduated in May, and the average cumulative GPA was 3.29. A total of 108 student-athletes have earned their degrees in the last calendar year, with 34 others graduating in December 2012.
