Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Ross Bjork Writes Open Letter to WKU Fans

Dear Hilltopper Nation,

I want to let you know what a privilege and honor it has been serving as WKU's Director of Intercollegiate Athletics during the last three weeks.  This is an exciting and invigorating time for my family and I, and we appreciate the hospitality you have extended to us.  I would also like to again thank Wood Selig for his input, advice and tremendous assistance throughout this transition.  It is great to be back at WKU, and the Bjork's are eagerly anticipating this new journey in our life.

I have had the pleasure of visiting with many of you and look forward to meeting those of you whom I have not yet met.  The passion, excitement and enthusiasm everyone in the Hilltopper Nation consistently displays toward WKU athletics is inspiring and appreciated.  There is no way WKU would have experienced such tremendous success on and off the playing field without you and the vital support you provide.

As you know, the past decade has been one of significant and noteworthy accomplishments.  We have invested $100 million in new facilities or renovations, graduated 85% of our student-athletes who have fulfilled their eligibility, and won 72 Sun Belt Conference championships.  However, while much has been accomplished, we must continue to raise the bar of success.  If we rest on our laurels, our progress will end and we will quickly lose our current standing as the best program in the Sun Belt Conference.  We must and will continue to demand excellence in everything that we do.

My initial assessment is that we have been able to sustain success at the highest level because of a total commitment from student-athletes, coaches, the administration and the community.   My pledge to you is that all of us within athletics will continue to produce a Championship Effort on a daily basis.  One thing I have determined is that we cannot continue to succeed at a high level without your support in three vital areas:

1-Please renew or purchase season tickets at wkusports.com or by calling 1-800-5-BIG-RED;

2-Please join or renew your HAF membership by calling 270-745-5321, you can be a part of the Hilltopper family for as little as $50;

3-Please recruit 3-4 new people to join HAF and purchase season tickets to help ensure our continued growth.

Your unwavering support and loyalty has played an instrumental role in our success and growth, and we thank you again for all that you do on behalf of WKU athletics.  I look forward to seeing all of you as we move forward, sharing in our successes, and creating new and special Hilltopper memories for everyone.

Sincerely yours,

Ross Bjork
