BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- A total of 77 WKU student-athletes will graduate this weekend in spring commencement activities on The Hill, and the average cumulative grade point average of the 77 is 3.23.
Degrees obtained include finance, geographic information science, biology, mechanical engineering, communication disorders, chemistry, speech-language pathology, among many others. Eight of the 77 are obtaining master's degrees while two others will receive their doctoral degrees in physical therapy.
A total of 109 WKU student-athletes have graduated in the past calendar year, with 32 others earning their degrees in December. The average cumulative GPA of the 109 is 3.12.
Earlier this spring, WKU recognized 41 student-athletes who received Conference USA Academic Medals for having a grade point average of 3.75 or higher and a total of 155 WKU student-athletes, nearly 50-percent of its total number, earned Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition from C-USA for maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better during the 2014-15 academic year.
In the NCAA's latest Academic Progress Rate (APR) release in spring 2015, each of WKU's 16 teams achieved an APR score of 950 or higher for the first time in school history. WKU is one of seven C-USA schools to have every sponsored sport program achieve an APR of 950 or higher.
