BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The Western Kentucky University cheerleading and dance teams will each be hosting respective clinics during the upcoming days and months.
The WKU cheerleading team will be hosting the 2013 College Prep Clinics on March 2, March 23 and April 6 at E.A. Diddle Arena. The clinics serve as an opportunity for middle and high school cheerleaders to prepare for cheerleading at the college level. It is also a chance for high school seniors planning to tryout at WKU to get a head start by learning the tryout material early and meeting other potential cheerleaders to work on tryout material.
Costing $50 per clinic, current WKU co-ed and all-girl cheerleaders as well as the WKU coaching staff will be available to work with attendees on stunting, tumbling, baskets and more. The tryout material will be taught and assistance on cleaning up that material is offered. Each tryout participant will need to learn the fight song as well as a cheer that they will be required to know for tryouts. In addition to the fight song and cheer, the all-girl tryout participants will also be required to learn a dance.
The clinic on March 2 runs from noon until 3 p.m. while the later dates have start times of 6 p.m. and finish around 9 p.m.
The Topperettes are hosting a dance clinic for all girls ages 4-18 on Saturday, February 9 from noon until 2:30 p.m. With registration beginning at 11:30 a.m. and costing $10 to attend, participants will perform at halftime of the women's basketball game against Arkansas State, which begins at 4 p.m. at Diddle Arena.
