Q: Back in the 1980s we had a holiday tournament and were able to bring several good schools (i.e. Auburn, Louisville, Georgetown) to Diddle. Has any thought been given to starting another holiday tournament? Would this motivate SEC, ACC, Big Ten schools to possibly come here? Could this help us get exposure on national television? -- Submitted by Michael Lindsey, Bowling Green, Ky.

Dr. Selig: Michael, The only true motivation for the schools you mentioned is money and TV exposure. Simply put, they can make far more revenue by playing at home than by giving up a home game or two for a tournament like the one we once had in Diddle. We could field a tournament, possibly, but it would not have any of the schools from conferences you mentioned. If "elite" programs do play in a tournament it is typically exempted, only counts as one game against their NCAA allowable total, and comes with guaranteed national TV coverage (and usually is someplace very tropical). Thanks for the thought I wish we could bring back the Wendy's classic.
