WKU Men's And Women's Soccer Teams Win NSCAA Team Academic Award

Bowling Green, Ky. — The National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced this week that both the Western Kentucky University men’s and women’s soccer teams have been honored with organization’s Team Academic Award, marking the sixth time that both squads have accomplished the feat.

The Lady Toppers have won the award all six seasons of the program’s existence, while the Hilltoppers were honored in 1999, 2000, ’01, ’03, and ’05.

To receive this accolade, a team must post a composite grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. WKU was one of only 14 NCAA Division I schools to have both the men's and women's teams earn this honor.

This award continues the success of WKU soccer student-athletes from the ’06 season after Meredith Goodson was named first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District and third-team Academic All-America. For the men, Chris Davies was a first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District selection, and he joined Daniel Payne on the Missouri Valley Conference first-team Scholar-Athlete Team.
