Smith Stadium’s Largest Crowds

Since Smith Stadium opened in 1968, more than 2 million fans have watched the Hilltoppers, where WKU has a 128-54-4 record (69.9%)! The stadium topped the 1,000,000-mark in attendance in its 14th year (vs. Tennessee Tech on Oct. 17, 1981, when 11,500 fans pushed all-time attendance to 1,001,375), and crossed the 2,000,000-mark Sept. 22, 2001, after 9,500 fans witnessed the first Gateway Football Conference game in the facility’s history, a 23-7 victory over Southwest Missouri State.
