BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Western Kentucky University softball signee Bethany Oglesby will be honored as a Female High School Athlete of the Year at the Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on August 23.

"Bethany is highly motivated, and she strives to be the best in everything that she does," WKU head coach Tyra Perry said. "We are extremely proud of all of her accomplishments. We look forward to having her in our program."

Oglesby comes to WKU from Carter High School in Knoxville, Tenn., where she was a three-sport athlete and an all-state selection in two sports. She has been honored with numerous awards throughout her career in softball, including All-State, All-Prep Xtra, and All-KIL, All-District and All-District Tournament Team. She has also earned four letters in volleyball and was named the District Defensive Player of the Year and All-Region this past season, as well as the 2010 District Hitter of the Year.

One of five high school student-athletes being honored at the ceremony, Oglesby is also the first Division I softball signee out of Carter High School.
