NASHVILLE, Tenn. — After battling Southern Indiana to a 2-2 tie on Thursday, the WKU women's tennis team picked up its 10th win of the 2012 season with a 7-0 shutout of Tennessee State. The 7-0 win was the second for WKU over Tennessee State this season.

WKU (10-4) has now reached the 10-win plateau in a season for the third time in the last four years and have secured a winning record for the fourth time in the last five years.

Sophomores Monta Reinfelde and Alex Crofford were the lone Lady Toppers to pick singles wins on both Friday and Saturday, as Reinfelde improved to 14-1 with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Lindsey White of USI, and a 6-0, 6-0 win over Melynda Simmons of Tennessee State.

Crofford's pair of singles wins give her wins in each of her last four matches, improving her 2012 record to 9-6 — equalling her win total from 2011. Crofford dropped Morgan Coquerille of USI in straight sets, 7-6, 7-5 and London Thomas of Tennessee State, 6-3, 6-1. Crofford was also the only Lady Topper to win both doubles matches, teaming with Carolina Barboza to earn an 8-2 win over Southern Indiana and an 8-1 win over Tennessee State. Barboza and Crofford improved to 11-4 as a doubles team, trailing only Monta Reinfelde and Madeline Phillips, who lead the team with 12 doubles wins.

Barboza notched her ninth singles win this season with 6-0, 6-1 win over Lauren Thomas of Tennessee State from the No. 3 spot in the WKU lineup. Barboza improves to 9-5 on the year and is one of five Lady Toppers with a singles record of above .500 this season.

Freshman Madeline Phillips improved to 8-6 on the year with 6-1, 6-0 win over Tennessee State's Shardel Suber, while sophomore Morgan Freeman upped her 2012 mark to 6-4 in singles play with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Tennessee State. 

Freeman also picked up a win in doubles play against Tennessee State, as she teamed with junior Katrina Vucina to pick up their fifth doubles win on the year. Vucina also claimed a win in singles play on Saturday, winning 6-0, 6-1 from the No. 4 singles spot.

Both the Lady Toppers and the Hilltoppers will enjoy their regular season finale at home, as both squads will host North Alabama tomorrow afternoon at Bowling Green High School at 1:00 PM. The match will wrap up the 2012 regular season, with the Sun Belt Conference Tournament set to begin on Thursday, April 19. Brackets and seeds for the tournament will be released early next week.
