NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The WKU women's tennis team rebounded following Sunday's loss to Middle Tennessee by shutting out host Tennessee State, 7-0 on Thursday in Nashville, Tenn.

The Lady Toppers blanked Tennessee State for the fourth consecutive time and won their 19th in a row over the Tigers. WKU has not lost to Tennessee State since the 1993 season.

WKU (8-4) swept both the doubles and singles portion of the match, winning all singles in straight sets. It marked the second time this season that the Lady Toppers have picked up a win in all six singles spots.

Monta Reinfelde led the charge for WKU from the No. 1 position, picking up her 11th win of the season in both doubles and singles play. Reinfelde, who lost for the first time all season against Middle Tennessee on Sunday, improved to 22-2 in doubles and singles combined this season and picked up the 25th singles win of her career on the Hill, moving her career mark to 25-5 in 30 career spring matches. Reinfelde outlasted Melynda Simmons of Tennessee State from the top singles spot, 7-5, 6-1 and teamed with Madeline Phillips to pick up an 8-3 win in doubles play.

Freshman Carolina Barboza picked up her seventh singles win of the season from the No. 2 spot in the Lady Topper lineup, taking down London Thomas in straight sets. WKU is now 7-0 when Barboza picks up a win from the No. 2 position. Barboza and doubles teammate Alex Crofford also picked up a win from the No. 2 doubles spot, as the duo improved to an impressive 8-4 this season.

Crofford also picked a singles win from No. 3, taking down Lauren Thomas in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1. The win evens Crofford's singles record at 6-6 this season and also gives the sophomore 15 singles wins for her career.

Junior Katrina Vucina and sophomore Morgan Freeman improved to 2-1 as a doubles team, winning from the No. 3 spot, 8-1. Vucina also recorded her fourth singles win of the year, taking down Kryston Mason from the No. 4 position in the singles lineup.

Freeman picked up one of the Lady Toppers' two shut out wins in singles play, taking down Khadijah Williams from the No. 6 spot.Madeline Phillips posted the other shutout for WKU, winning 6-0, 6-0 over Shardel Suber from the No. 5 position. Phillips is now 6-6 in singles play and 10-2 in doubles play this season.

WKU finishes the month of March with a 5-2 record, improving its overall record in the month over the last five years to 23-8. The Lady Toppers have won eight of 10 after an 0-2 start to the season.

The WKU men's tennis team will travel to Bellarmine on Sunday, while the Lady Toppers are scheduled to return to action on April 11 against Campbellsville.
