MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. — The WKU men's golf team shot a 321 on Monday in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Championships in Muscle Shoals, Ala., and is tied for ninth after day one.
WKU is tied with Denver four shots behind eighth-place Troy. ULM rounds out the field six strokes behind WKU and Denver. North Texas and Middle Tennessee each shot 298s to lead after Monday's round.
Will Beard is tied for 23rd with a 78, and Brandon Beckham is tied for 32nd after carding an 80. Doug Kleeschulte sits tied for 37th after shooting an 81, and Cameron Beal is 39th thanks to an 82 on Monday.
Andrew Heiser is 54th after shooting a first-round 89.
North Texas' Ty Spinella leads the field with a one-under par 71.
The second round of the three-round championship is Tuesday.
