BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- WKU hosted 26 local elementary students in grades 1-6 on Saturday to race at the Charles M. Ruter Track and Field Complex during the collegiate Hilltopper Relays as a part of the "Fastest Kid in Bowling Green" competition.

As a part of the inaugural Super Hilltopper Weekend event at WKU Saturday and Sunday, WKU partnered with Bowling Green Independent and Warren County Schools for the "Fastest Kid in Bowling Green" competition that promotes physical fitness and secondary education.
 
Over the past few weeks, physical education classes in the school districts held "preliminary heats" in the 100-meter dash in certain age groups. The winners in grade levels 1-3 and 4-6 raced Saturday at the collegiate Hilltopper Relays at the Charles M. Ruter Track and Field Complex on the WKU campus after the college 100-meter dash to determine the "Fastest Kid in Bowling Green."
