BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The 15th annual Community Education "Stand For Children Day" took place on Wednesday at Bowling Green Ballpark, as hundreds of kids flooded the concourse and baseball field taking part in games and various activities throughout the day.

Aside from regular chaperones, many kids were treated with the opportunity to hang out with WKU football players, as numerous players led groups of kids through different booths, playing games and talking with the children.

"The players really see how much these kids look up to them at events like this," WKU football character coach Sean Pugh said. "It is great to look around and see our guys interacting and talking with the kids. I know that our guys really enjoyed coming out here and taking part in this event."

Players spent more than two hours at Bowling Green Ballpark meeting with kids and taking part in activities. The event was free to the public and open to all families and children in the Bowling Green community.

"For our players it is an avenue to help them develop into men, by pouring into the lives of younger kids that look up to them," Pugh said. "We think it is great to be visible within the community and also plays a large role in our players continuing to mature."
