As a Senior (2011-12): Jana Kahrig capped her Lady Toppers career with a senior season that featured competing in two three events (50 free, 100- and 200-butterfly) at two different meets. Kahrig finished in the top-10 on three different occasions. She competed in the Hilltopper Invitational and swam against Kentucky and Vanderbilt. Kahrig's best finish on the year came in the 200 butterfly against Kentucky and Vanderbilt, placing ninth with a time of 2:16.71.
As a Junior (2010-11): Kahrig competed in five different events in her junior season with the Lady Toppers, mainly competing in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly events. Also swam the 100 free, 200 fly and 200 IM. Kahrig scored in two events at the Sun Belt Conference Championships, her best finish coming in the 100 fly. She touched in at 56.55 to place 10th in the 100 butterfly event and placed 14th in the 100 freestyle. Her best performances of the season came in a pair of second-place finishes, one in the 50 free (25.07) against Evansville and the other in the 100 fly (59.44) against Xavier. Kahrig ended the season with nine top-10 finishes.
As a Sophomore(2009-10): In her second season at WKU, Kahrig posted six top-10 finishes between 50-, 100- and 200-free along with the 100- and 200-fly. Kahrig's best performance of the season was a second-place finish in the 200 fly at the Hilltopper Invitational with a time of 2:12.64. She also scored in two events at the 2010 SBC Championships (the 100- and 200-fly). Her top finish was in the 200 fly where she placed 13th in the B final with a time of 2:09.88. She also finished 15th in the 100 fly.
As a Freshman (2008-09): Finished seventh in the 50 Free against Southern Illinois with a time of 25.66.
High School: Coached by Steve Nye and Bloom Carroll High School ... lettered two years for the Bulldogs ... was named All-State for two years and All-Ohio Swimming ... placed sixth and eighth at the state meet.
Personal: Parents are Troy and Lillian Kahrig ... born in Lancaster, Ohio on June 19, 1990 ... majoring in exercise science and hopes to become an occupational therapist.
