BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Dawn Wientjes aced the par-3, 130-yard 15th hole Monday, her first hole of the day, which set the tone for a 20-stroke improvement for the Lady Toppers from the first round to the final round of the Low Country Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C.

The Lady Toppers shot a 316 as a team on Monday to finish the two-round tournament in 12th place with a 652 after firing a 336 on Sunday. WKU ended up five strokes behind 11th-place Princeton and seven shots ahead of USC Upstate.

Appalachian State won the title with a two-day total of 621. Kelly Shon of Princeton and Maria Luz Besio of Newberry College tied for the individual crown with five-over par 149s.

Wientjes' hole-in-one helped her to a 78 on Monday, the lowest Lady Topper round of the tournament, and a tie for 22nd place in the overall standings. Her 159 was three strokes better than Amy O'Connell, who finished tied for 32nd after a second-round 79. Kelsey Burrell also fired a 79 on Monday to end up tied for 39th. April Butler and Kristen Wilkinson were tied for 52nd and tied for 57th, respectively, after carding an 80 and an 82 on Monday.

All five Lady Toppers in the field improved their first-round totals by at least three strokes in Monday's second round.

WKU returns to the course on April 6 and 7 for the Eastern Kentucky Invitational in Richmond, Ky.
