Joe Miday was named the new WKU football strength and conditioning coach on January 15, 2013.
Miday comes to WKU after six seasons on the strength and conditioning staff at Marshall, including the last two seasons as the head strength and conditioning coach with the Thundering Herd football team. Miday will oversee the entire WKU football strength and conditioning program.
"I am really excited to add Joe to our staff and can't wait to see the impact he will have on our football program," WKU head coach Bobby Petrino said. "Joe did an outstanding job as the head strength and conditioning coach at Marshall and I feel like he will be a great fit for us here at WKU."
Miday worked his way to the top during his time at Marshall, beginning in 2007 as a graduate assistant within the strength and conditioning staff. In 2011, Miday was named the head strength and conditioning coach at Marshall.
Miday began his career as a baseball coach and strength coach at Stow-Munroe Falls High School in Akron, Ohio while teaching algebra and geometry at Akron East High School. After coaching his team to an undefeated season in 2004, Miday accepted a position as the Health Coordinator for the Akron Community Health Center. He oversaw patient nutrition, health education, daily exercise and rehab programs for over 8,000 patients yearly.
Miday is also a member of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA) and has passed the Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) certification examination. The SCCC is the most comprehensive certification of its kind and tests the candidates' scientific knowledge, as well as their ability to apply this knowledge in a live working, practical environment.
Miday was born in Canton, Ohio and attended Louisville High School. He received his Masters of Science from the School of Exercise Science and Recreation from Marshall University in 2008.
