Andy Wagner begins his first season as WKU’s Director of Football Operations, after spending five seasons with the University of Arkansas football team as the Director of Sports Video.
Wagner will oversee every aspect of the Hilltopper football program, including team travel, departmental budget, personnel, game day operations, liaison to the Athletics Department senior staff and other organizational and operational duties within WKU football.
During his time at Arkansas, Wagner and his staff were instrumental in numerous enhancements to create a conducive environment for the Razorback coaching staff and players to utilize game film. In his efforts, Wagner oversaw the redesign of the video room in the Broyles Center at Arkansas, and upgrades to equipment in all player meeting rooms.
Under Wagner's direction, the video department streamlined the network in order for coaches and players to have open access to watch video. Razorback players can now easily view all reps or study tendencies of an opponent, while all coaches have instant access to recruiting film online in order to evaluate potential future players.
For his efforts at Arkansas, Wagner was named the 2011-12 Southeastern Conference Co-Video Coordinator of the Year by the Collegiate Sports Video Association, earning the award following a vote by his peers in the SEC.
Additionally, Wagner also spent four years producing the television show Inside Razorback Football, which aired statewide and nationally. Wagner was also a key developer of the first recruiting website at Arkansas, ThisIsArkansasFootball.com, where visitors could learn about life as a Razorback through content produced by the athletic department.
Wagner came to Arkansas after spending eight years with the Jacksonville Jaguars and 10 years overall in the National Football League.
Wagner was the assistant video coordinator with the Jaguars where he broke down game film on opponents, maintained professional and amateur video tape libraries, created highlight tapes and maintained the computer servers that housed Jacksonville's archives.
Wagner's professional career began in the summer of 1998 as an intern with the Indianapolis Colts where he stayed for two seasons.
A native of Indiana, Wagner graduated from Bremen High School in Bremen, Ind., before attending Butler University where he earned a bachelor's of science degree in telecommunications in 1999. Wagner and his wife Karen have two daughters, Katelyn and Makenzie.
