Chebet is the first WKU athlete since 2011 All-American football player Bobby Rainey to win three player of the week awards in the same season.
He secured his third Top 10 finish of the season last Saturday at the Greater Louisville Classic, running the 8,000-meter Tom Sawyer Park course in 24:04.72 to secure 10th place. His clocking was 32 seconds faster than his 8,000-meter win at the Sept.15 Commodore Classic held at Percy Warner Park.
In three races this season Chebet has finished first, second and 10th. Chebet's efforts led WKU to a 25th place team finish in a meet that featured 12 schools representing each of the six BCS conference and included No.6 Texas and No.8 Iona.
The Hilltoppers will be back in action Saturday, Oct.13 as they prepare for postseason competition running in the Pre-Nationals at Tom Sawyer Park.
