MONROE, La. - April Butler and Kate Larimore led WKU on the opening day of the ULM Fred Marx Invitational at Bayou DeSiard Country Club in Monroe, Louisiana, posting solid second round scores to help WKU improve their opening round scores by six shots.
The event is the third of five fall tournament's and second in less than 10 days for the WKU Women's Golf team.
The Lady Toppers shot an opening round 316, followed by an afternoon round of 310. Butler and Larimore are tied for 45th place in the event after finishing +12 in the opening 36 holes. Freshman Michaela Bordeianu finished one stroke back at +13 through the opening day of the event.
In their last outing, WKU finished the Great Smokies Intercollegiate with the highest finish for WKU in the event in program history (fifth) and second lowest overall score (596) for the team. WKU made it's 11th appearance in the event all-time. WKU had previously finished seventh on two prior occasions.
