MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Two players registered their first goals of the 2012 season as WKU won their opener of a two-game Minnesota road trip over Bowling Green on Saturday afternoon.
Junior Torrie Lange (Florence, Kentucky) got the Lady Toppers on the board in the 43rd minute to take a one goal lead at 1-0. It was just the third shot of the game for the Lady Toppers and the first of the season for Lange. The late first half goal marked the fourth career goal for Lange who was making her 40th career start.
Junior Chrissy Tchoula (Noblesville, Indiana) gave the Toppers a two goal lead when she scored in the 51st minute. It was the third career goal for the midfield that was a preseason All-Sun Belt Conference selection.
Freshman Nikki Hall (Cincinnati, Ohio) had one of her most active games in her short WKU career. Hall had a career high seven saves while allowing just one goal in the 67th minute by Bowling Green sophomore Sidney Huth.
WKU returns to the field on Monday for a Labor Day showdown with Minnesota (3-2) in just the second game in program history against a Big Ten opponent. First touch is set for 1:00pm CT.
Following the road trip to Minnesota, WKU returns home on Sept. 9 when the Lady Toppers host Vanderbilt at 1:00pm.
