BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The WKU women's tennis team saw its four-match unbeaten streak come to an end in the regular season finale on Sunday, falling for the second time this season to North Alabama, 5-2 from Bowling Green High School.

WKU (10-5) closes out the regular season winning six of its last eight and reached the 10-win plateau for the third time in the last four years under head coach Jeff True. The Lady Toppers have also secured a winning record for the fourth time in the last five years.

Sophomore Monta Reinfelde and freshman Madeline Phillips were the only Lady Toppers to pick up a singles win on Sunday, as the duo also claimed the only doubles win for WKU.

Reinfelde closes out her regular season with a 15-1 record in singles play and a 14-2 overall doubles record, including a 13-2 mark with teammate Madeline Phillips. Reinfelde's 15 singles wins this season give her 29 for her short career on the Hill, while claiming 24 career doubles wins over the last two years. Reinfelde has played all of her matches from the No. 1 position.

Phillips finished her first regular season at WKU with a 9-6 singles record — one of four Lady Toppers with nine or more wins this season. Phillips took down Teresa Franco in three sets on Sunday, battling back for a 2-6, 6-0, 10-7 win from the No. 5 spot in the WKU lineup. Phillips has gone 5-3 this season when playing from the No. 5 position. 

Outside of Reinfelde and Phillips, three other Lady Toppers close out the regular season with a winning record in singles play. Sophomore Alex Crofford went 9-7 in singles play for the Lady Toppers, tying her win total from her freshman season. Freshman Carolina Barboza also tallied nine regular season singles wins, going 9-6, including a 7-4 mark from the No. 2 spot in the Lady Topper lineup. Sophomore Morgan Freeman went 6-5 in 11 singles matches, including a 5-3 record when playing from the No. 6 position.

The Lady Toppers will now travel to Denton, Texas next week for the 2012 Sun Belt Conference Tournament, which is set to begin on Thursday, April 19. Pairings for the tournament will be released early next week.
