Campbellsville, Ky. — Kicking off a stretch of four matches in four days, the WKU women's tennis team took a step in the right direction on Thursday, taking down host Campbellsville, 6-1. The win was the second in a row for the Lady Toppers, who have now won five out of their last six, with the only loss coming to conference foe Middle Tennessee.

WKU (9-4) took five of the six singles from the Lady Tigers and swept the doubles portion of the match, marking the ninth time this season that the Lady Toppers have captured the doubles point, with eight of those resulting in WKU wins.

Sophomore Monta Reinfelde moved to 24-2 in singles and doubles play combined this season with a pair of wins on Thursday. Reinfelde moved to 12-1 from the top singles spot, taking down Anna Tumanyan, 6-1, 6-1. Reinfelde and teammate Madeline Phillips moved to 11-1 as a doubles tandem, winning 8-4 from the No. 1 doubles position.

Phillips went over .500 for the year in singles play, picking up her second consecutive win to move to 7-6 on the year. Phillips took down Jenna Sallee from the No. 4 singles spot, 6-4, 6-3.

Sophomore Alex Crofford also went over the .500 mark for the season in singles play, winning 6-0, 6-3 from the No. 3 position to move to 7-6 on the year. Crofford and freshman teammate Carolina Barboza picked up an 8-2 win in doubles play to improve to 9-4 as a doubles team — the second-best mark on the Lady Topper team.

Barboza improved to 8-5 in singles play with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Aspen Edwards from the No. 5 spot in the WKU lineup. Barboza is second on the team in singles wins, trailing only Reinfelde.

Katrina Vucina and Morgan Freeman capped off doubles play with an 8-4 win from the No. 3 doubles spot, improving the tandem to 4-1 on the year. Freeman also picked up her fifth singles win on the year, improving to 5-4 with a 6-3, 6-2 win.

The Lady Toppers will be back in action today, as both the men's and women's squads will travel to Evansville, Ind., to take on Southern Indiana. WKU will then travel to take on Tennessee State on Saturday, before hosting North Alabama on Sunday for the regular season finale.
