The WKU men's and women's basketball teams and some of the athletic department staff were active in the Bowling Green community in the month of January as a part of Hilltoppers With Heart, WKU Athletics' official community service program.
The men's basketball team volunteered at the 2nd Annual Jesus Prom at Hillvue Heights Church on January 20. The Jesus Prom is is for physically and/or mentally challenged individuals, and the team served as greeters, escorts, decorators and parking workers. They also enjoyed dancing the night away with the guests.
Players Kevin Kaspar and Stephon Drane and Les Forsythe and Andrew Deere from WKU's Athletic Facilities office went to Bowling Green First Baptist Church at the end of the month. They talked to the kids before and after their basketball games and took pictures and signed autographs.
The women's basketball team held a free basketball clinic at E.A. Diddle Arena for children in grades 1-7. The team gave pointers to the young basketball players and signed autographs and passed out posters.
