BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- In announcing its finalized television schedule for the upcoming 2009-10 season, Western Kentucky University men's basketball will have a minimum of 27 regular season games appear on no less than six different networks.
This marks the fifth consecutive season that a significant number of WKU games will be televised. A large portion of those broadcasts are the result of an arrangement with Hilltopper Sports Satellite Network (HSSN), Fox College Sports, and DirecTV which allows WKU basketball games to be syndicated nationwide. WKU games reach 47 of the nation's top 50 markets and are in more than 25 million homes on a consistent basis, making the Hilltoppers one of the most televised programs in the country.
Highlighting the televised games are a pair of ESPN2 broadcasts, on December 19 at Louisville and then on January 23 versus Middle Tennessee at Diddle Arena.
WKU's game at South Carolina on December 2 will be carried on SportSouth while CSS has picked up the Hilltoppers' showdown with Vanderbilt on December 11 at the Sommet Center in Nashville, Tenn. CSS also will televise the WKU versus Mississippi State contest at Diddle Arena on January 4.
On January 10, in a key Sun Belt Conference battle at Denver, the game will be carried on Fox Sports Rocky Mountain while the January 30 home contest with New Orleans is slated as the Sun Belt Conference Game of the Week and will appear on SBC-TV.
The remaining 20 games will be produced and broadcast by HSSN and appear on Fox College Sports, DirecTV channel 617, and locally in Bowling Green, Ky. on WKYU-PBS Channel 11.
