BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Vanderbilt erased a 1-0 deficit with four first half goals to beat Western Kentucky University 4-1 on Sunday afternoon at the WKU Soccer Complex.

WKU (4-3-0) has just one non-conference game remaining before beginning Sun Belt Conference play.

Senior Christen Sims (Madison, Ala.) scored the fifth goal of her career and first since the 2010 season in the fifth minute when she was able to direct a deflected cross from Andrea Curry (Fairfield, Ohio) into the goal. It was the fourth time in seven games that WKU has scored in the opening seven minutes of a game this season.

The early WKU lead would hold for just five minutes before Tillman scored her first goal of the day. Tillman found her way behind the WKU defense to tie the game in the 10th minute. Minutes later, Tillman would receive a short cross from Cheyna Williams and score from 18 yards out to take a 2-1 lead.

Vanderbilt (3-3-1) used its speed to find several opportunities to slip in behind the WKU defense, including Tillman's opening goal. Vanderbilt cushioned their lead in the 30th and 42nd minutes with goals by Cheyna Williams and Ashley Oswald.

All three of WKU's losses this season have come against teams in the Southeastern Conference and Big Ten Conference.

WKU returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 15 when the Lady Toppers host Belmont in their final non-conference game of the regular season. First touch is set for 6:00pm CT.
