1998 HILLTOPPERS AVERAGE 36 POINTS PER GAME


No WKU football team has ever scored more points per game than the 1998 Hilltoppers. Led by senior quarterback Willie Taggart, the 1998 WKU squad put 396 points up on the scoreboard in just 11 games, averaging 36 points per contest.
 
Taggart and the Hilltoppers did their damage on the ground, racking up 344 yards per contest with the rushing attack. Only two teams in the country rushed for more yards per game than the Hilltoppers in 1998. Taggart shouldered most of the offensive load, rushing for 1,313 yards and 15 touchdowns.
