BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Sophomore outfielder Kelsie Mattox was named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week on Monday. Mattox hit her 10th and 11th home runs of the season this past weekend as WKU won two of three games against Troy at the WKU Softball Field.

Mattox hit .600 with two home runs, two doubles, and five RBI this weekend. The sophomore outfielder hit her 10th home run of the season in game one of Friday night’s doubleheader, going 1-for-3 in the game. With that home run, Mattox became the fourth Lady Toppers to hit double-digit home runs in a season. In the nightcap, Mattox went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI as WKU beat Troy 8-0 in five innings. On Saturday, Mattox hit a two-run home run in the third inning for the only runs in WKU’s 2-0 win. For the weekend, Mattox slugged 1.400 with a .600 on base percentage.

Mattox is the second Lady Topper to be named Sun Belt Player of the Week this season. Shortstop Amanda Thomas earned the honor on March 12 after WKU's sweep of Florida Atlantic. Mattox is second in the conference in home runs behind Louisiana-Lafayette's Christi Orgeron, who has 12. She is also third in the Sun Belt in total bases with 75. This is her second career Player of the Week honor, earning it once in 2011.

WKU is back in action on Wednesday night as it travels to Nashville to take on Belmont at 5 p.m.
