TROY, Ala. - After dropping two games to Troy on Saturday, the Lady Toppers (17-11, 5-4 SBC) fell to the Trojans on Sunday to lose their first Sun Belt series on the season. After falling to Troy 2-1 in both games on Saturday, the Lady Toppers were defeated by Troy 2-0 on Sunday.
With the score tied at zero in the bottom of the fifth inning, Troy jumped on top of the Lady Toppers taking a 2-0 lead. With two outs in the inning, Troy scored their first run of the day after two consecutive doubles and added an insurance run off a single to center field.
The Lady Toppers could never get going offensively recording only four hits during the day, a single and double by junior Brooke Reed, a single by senior Sam Cronk and a single by junior Lindsay Antone. Ryan Rogge took the loss for the Lady Toppers, her second of the weekend, after giving up six hits.
The Lady Toppers threatened in the top of the seventh after two consecutive hits but were unable to capitalize and take the lead.
WKU will take on Tennessee Tech on Wednesday night in a doubleheader in Cookeville, Tenn. before taking on Evansville in Bowling Green on Thursday.
