WKU softball's Miranda Kramer tied the Conference USA record after earning her seventh league Pitcher of the Week honor this season, the conference office announced Monday.
Setting a Conference USA record with the most strikeouts in a league game, Miranda Kramer fanned 18 batters through 11 innings of work, but the WKU softball team (29-10, 14-4) couldn't string together hits, falling 3-1 to Charlotte (23-24, 9-11) on Sunday afternoon.
Austin King fired an even-par 72 in the opening round to pace the WKU Men's Golf team, which sits in 10th place at the 2015 Conference USA Men's Golf Championships, hosted at the Texarkana Country Club.
WKU had its potential tying run in scoring position four times over the final four innings of Sunday's series finale against No. 16 Rice, but the Owls' pitching staff continually maneuvered out of jams to complete its sweep of the Hilltoppers with a 3-2 win at Nick Denes Field.
Senior Miranda Kramer threw her second no-hitter of the season and her career on Saturday afternoon, guiding the WKU softball team (29-9, 14-3) to a 3-1 victory over Charlotte (22-24, 8-11) to clinch the series.
